My love letter, as promised, to the comic book convention.
Following the last two episodes, this is the wrap up to my look at the Alternative Press Expo in SF. I share my personal history with that show, which is also a very accurate account of how I started self-publishing.
Once again, things became surprisingly personal, dredging up a number of old memories from cons and the struggle to “break in”– nothing is held back.
Despite such personal exposure, there are also a number of storytelling and career tidbits, as well as my usual “Crowd-funding Current.” This episode sees the first “Storytelling Tip” feature, as I endeavor to rein myself in with some structure and continue to provide something “practical” in every episode.
Also, I nerd out a lot on Batman, Scott McCloud, Larry Young and more!
Please don’t check out when the business stuff starts near the end, because at the end you’ll be surprised, (I know I was,) by a special message related to the dedication below:
This episode was recorded the same weekend as the 2013 Angouleme Comic Book Festival in France.
As it is the first year of that show without him, this is respectfully dedicated to our late master Jean Giraud, aka Gir, aka Moebius
